Russia uses air defense for ground attacks due to lack of specialized missiles - British intelligence

Russia has increased its use of air defense missiles for ground attacks due to an acute shortage of specialized missiles for striking ground targets.

This is stated in the daily report of British intelligence, "European Truth" writes.

"Russia has almost certainly deployed S-300 and S-400 strategic air defense systems, designed to destroy aircraft and missiles at long distances, not far from Ukraine since the beginning of the invasion," the report said.

It is noted that these weapons have relatively small warheads designed to destroy aircraft. They can pose a significant threat to troops in open and light houses, but are unlikely to penetrate fortified structures.

"There is a high probability that these weapons will miss their intended targets and cause civilian casualties because the missiles are not optimized for this role and the system crews will be poorly trained for such missions," the statement said.

It is also mentioned that on July 21, the governor of the Mykolaiv region, Vitaly Kim, said that Russian troops used seven anti-aircraft missile systems to hit infrastructure facilities, energy facilities, and warehouses.

It will be recalled that the head of intelligence of Great Britain said that the Russian military will probably take a certain operational pause in the next few weeks.

As reported, Western officials believe that next year Russia will organize another full-scale attack on Ukraine, one of the goals of which may be to capture the strategic port city of Odessa and cut off Kyiv from the sea.
